ULTRAMAN TRIGGER: EPISODE Z PROMISES EPIC SCALE

Feature Length Story Reuniting Ultra Heroes Announced at TsubuCon 21

At TsubuCon 2021, fans were shown the first trailer for Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga’s post-series special, Ultraman Trigger: Episode Z. The reveal was by lead actors Raiga Terasaka, who plays Kengo Manaka, and Koshu Hirano, who plays Haruki Natsukawa, as well as special guest Yuichi Nakamura!

The cinematic event will be released March 18, 2022 to movie theaters in Japan and through the Tsuburaya Imagination streaming service. No news on how the film will be released elsewhere in the world. Here’s the epic trailer!

Two years have passed since the final battle and peace has been restored around the globe. However, things don’t stay quiet for long when Kaiju once again begin to appear on Earth. At the same time, a series of mysterious break-ins take place at super ancient ruins around the world. Expert team GUTS-SELECT, led by a new captain (played by Yuichi Nakamura), prepares the squad to launch an investigation. Little do they know; it is the beginning of a fierce battle with the fate of the universe in the balance.

GUTS-SELECT and Ultraman Z (Zett) rush into battle with our hero, Manaka Kengo, in the lead. A sinister figure emerges from the shadows: Evil Trigger, a dark giant who inherits the shadow. To make everyone smile again, Ultraman Trigger and Haruki (played by Kohshu Hirano), human host of Ultraman Z, join forces with the new members of GUTS-SELECT as well as Ignis (played by Kei Hosogai), human host of Trigger Dark, to take part in the ultimate battle between light and shadow!

Yes, fans of Ultraman Z who have been disappointed that he didn’t get his own feature can rest assured, this will be an awesome chance to see their hero writ large! Trigger teamed with Zett and his human host, Haruki Natsukawa, once in the series, but Evil Trigger is a whole new challenge. Both Ultras will be pushed to their limit against him and the forces that spawned this Ultra-Ancient Evil in the modern era. The question remains, however: Where did Evil Trigger come from? What brought Z to this Earth again? With the events of Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga not yet concluded, we have more questions than answers. However, the climax of the series is coming soon, and Episode Z ups the ante on even those exciting events!

At the event, fans got to see Terasaka-san and Hirano-san joined by their Ultra counterparts, and Nakamura-san in his new captain’s uniform, but there was one more guest on stage, the terrifying Evil Trigger! All the actors expressed their excitement for this new adventure, and we couldn’t agree more!

Ultraman Trigger: Episode Z will be premiering as a dual release on Tsuburaya Imagination and select theatres in Japan on March 18th, 2022. As for global fans who want to see two of the biggest heroes of the New Generation team up, all we can say is, stay close to Ultraman Connection!
